Aziz Torbey
- Founding Partner
As the founding partner, Aziz Torbey leads the Taxation, Banking, Real Estate, Insurance and Reinsurance and Insolvency Groups. He has extensive experience representing corporations and banks in a wide variety of commercial and financial matters, as well as in administrative proceedings and litigation involving all kinds of tax issues. In particular, Mr. Torbey serves as a tax consultant and a legal advisor to number of financial institutions, ensuring that each client maximizes profits by properly and most efficiently applying Lebanese tax laws.
Furthermore, Mr. Torbey's background in the public and private sectors has allowed him to become a leading professional within political, economic as well as the business community in Lebanon. In fact, he is listed in the 2005 International Who’s Who of Professionals for his exemplary achievements and contributions to the business community.
Prior to establishing the firm, Mr. Torbey spent a decade as a political journalist at the National New Agency. Simultaneously, he graduated from La Sagesse University of Law in Beirut with a Master in Law in 1968 and was admitted to practice law in Lebanon.Mr. Torbey served as the legal advisor of the Association of Lebanese Industrialists and also founded and administered several professional associations as well as community service associations.
Mr. Torbey is currently a member of the Association of European Lawyers (AEA) and the International Business Law Consortium (IBLC).

Marie Torbey

Marie Torbey heads the Corporate and Commercial Groups at the law firm. She has extensive experience in assisting and providing companies and corporations with legal advice that is specially tailored to their day-to-day legal needs.
Mrs. Torbey serves as the legal advisor to groups of high-profile Lebanese companies where she counsels them on the legal management, finance, and operation of their businesses as well as corporate governance and strategic business planning. She negotiates and drafts partnership, joint stock, Holding, Offshore and limited liability company agreements and minutes, as well as shareholders' agreements. In particular, Mrs. Torbey is an expert in providing corporate financial resolutions regarding increase of capitals, issue of bonds and new shares as well as other securities.
Mrs. Torbey graduated from Saint Joseph University in Beirut in 1978 with both French and Lebanese Masters of Laws and was admitted to practice in the same year. Mrs. Torbey is fluent in Arabic, French and English.

Houssam Mourtada

Houssam Mourtada heads the Litigation and Labor and Employment Groups. His litigation practice includes disputes relating to commercial, criminal, civil and administrative law. Houssam is the author of several legal studies and member of number of social associations. He received his Master in Law in 1996 and a DEA in Business Law from Lebanese University. Houssam was admitted to practice law in 1997 and he is fluent in Arabic, French and English.

Ramy Torbey
- Managing Partner
Ramy Torbey heads the Corporate Finance and Securities, IP/IT, International Trade and Sports and Entertainment Groups. He has extensive experience in corporate, financial, intellectual property and banking law as well as in international transactions and dispute resolution. Ramy is currently serving as the Lebanese Legal Expert for a European Commission ADR project in the MENA region, implemented by an international consortium led by the ADR Center in Italy. He is member of the IT Committee at the Beirut Bar Association. Ramy is fluent in Arabic, French, English and Italian.
Ramy graduated from Saint-Joseph University in Beirut with a DEA in Banking and Financial Markets Law (2003), Masters' in Private and Public Law (2001) and another diploma in Information Technology and Law which he received as a part of a joint program with Montpelier-I University in France (2000). In 2002, Ramy received an MBA from Ecole Superieure des Affaires in Beirut (ESA) and ESCP-EAP in France. He is currently working on his Ph.D in Financial Markets Law at Paris II University (Panthéon-Assas).

Roukoz Hobeika

As a member of the Litigation Group, Roukoz Hobeika represents corporations, companies and individuals involved in corporate, civil, labor and employment, banking, finance, taxation, white-collar criminal defense, commercial and intellectual property litigations. Prior to joining the firm, Roukoz spent several years working in general litigation law firm.
Roukoz graduated from the Lebanese University with a Master in Law in 1998 and was admitted to practice in 1999. He also earned a DEA in Computers and Data Processing Law in 2002 from La Sagesse University of Law and a DESS in Business and Taxation Law (GEFIRE) in 2003 from Auvergne University Clermont I in France. Recently, Roukoz received a certificate in English for Contract and Company Law from the British Council in Lebanon and the Beirut Bar Association. He is fluent in Arabic, French and English.

Pierre Edmond

Pierre Edmond joined the firm with extensive experience in business management and finance, having owned several businesses in United Arab Emirates. He concentrates his litigation practice in areas such as insurance, real estate, corporate, taxation, inheritance and finance. Pierre received his Master in Law in 1987 from La Sagesse University of Law and was admitted to practice in 1988. Recently, he earned a certificate in English for Contract and Company Law from the British Council in Lebanon and the Beirut Bar Association. Pierre is fluent in Arabic, French, English and Italian.

Ali Rahal

Ali Rahal is currently the head of the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Group. Ali graduated from Paris I Pantheon-Sorbonne University in 2002 with a Ph.D in Arbitration. He earned his Master in Law from Lebanese University in 1997 and a DEA in General Private Law from Montpelier University in France in 1998. Ali currently serves as a lecturer on Arbitration and Civil Law at Lebanese University and on Arbitration Law at the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik. He is a trained arbitrator and mediator, and has published several articles regarding ADR issues in Lebanon. Ali is fluent in Arabic, French and English.

Raghida Fakhoury has served as the Firm's legal translator since 1996. She specializes in translation of legal and judicial documents to and from Arabic, French and English. Prior to joining the firm, Raghida was a translator at an International Translation Firm. She earned a Master’s degree in Translation (School of Translators and Interpreters) from St. Joseph University in 1986.
